Welcome to The AES Literary blog where we dwell on the literary side of things... In the American Elementary School literature and writing are explored in many ways: in English and Polish classes, through "Becoming a Writer" creative writing club or in the school library... We invite you to visit our blog and see how we grow literarily, literally!

The AES elections!
The AES elections |
Yesterday, on Monday 21st of October,
in our school there took place an election for the student council's president, vice-president and treasurer. There was
a lot of excitement. The candidates were stressed. After the presentations Mr. John announced the results of the elections, they were: Ibra (Jakub Ochmański) became the new president, Alicja Guzowska became the vice-president and Victoria Orlikowska the treasurer. The feelings were mixed
and full of surprise, but most of us think that Ibra will be a good president of our
school.

See if you can guess!
After reading the brilliant chapter of The Hobbit "Riddles in the Dark" (great dialogue between Gollum and Bilbo Baggins), members of the Her Majesty the Fantasy club composed their own riddles. See if you can guess:
WHAT
IS IT?
Everyone on earth has it.
It
can
be colorful.
It
can
be every
size,
it
depends.
Mostly one can see it with an
everywhere-flying string!
-
Marek’s riddle
It
lives,
but not talks.
It
grows,
but only
one part of it moves.
It
can’t
hear,
can’t
eat,
can’t
smell
or
touch,
but can drink.
It’s home of birds.
-
Julia’s riddle
All people have it,
You can’t smell it,
You can’t touch it;
It’s black as night,
And
during your dream horrible it laughs…
You see it sometimes.

Food for thought...
Dear Everybody,
sharks
are not that dangerous as people try to make us believe. Sometimes they
attack people, but that is because they need to hunt or because
they are scared. Look at the following video, and you will believe it! Click on the link:

It's near a month now without storks...
The stork journey starts at the middle of August
when younger birds are starting their journey. Older storks are waiting
to last days of August. The journey starts when storks from one neigborhood
meet at one place. Then, there is common start and the journey starts.
Most of the Polish storks, after traveling 10 thousand km, spend winter in the middle or south of Africa. Some of them land in south-west Asia. This
journey takes them from 1 to 2 months!

"German Restaurant" in the AES
Today (Monday, 7th October) in the AES we had a ''German Restaurant'' event. We ate German
food. There was loads of German food and it was delicious and awesome. There was a lot of cake (Zacher cake, apple cake and cheesecake), there was meat (frankfurters and sausages with sauce), and there was... NUTELLA! At the end, all the food was for free! Everything disappeared in a
second. Then, it was all over..., I'd love to have the ''German Restaurant"
again.

The
show was calles Fahrenheit. We liked this show, but our friend said that
there were too little explosions! We think that there were not too little,
not too much. All students liked the show.
